On Jan. 4, 1980, the Chrysler Corp. permanently closed its Hamtramck Assembly Plant, commonly called "Dodge Main", marking the end of nearly 70 years of continuous manufacturing operations at the facility. Nicholas Kelley (1885-1965) was a New York City lawyer and civic leader. He served as an official of the U.S. Treasury Dept. from 1918 to 1921. In his private law practice, Kelley specialized in corporate law and he also was a director of several companies, most notably the Chrysler Corporation from 1937 to 1957.
